I am extremely disappointed with the representation I received from Felicity Joslin and this firm. Based on my experience, I could not recommend them for criminal defence work.
My case was with them for approximately SEVEN MONTHS. This is a serious criminal case with potentially significant consequences for my future. During that time, I believed my solicitor was reviewing the evidence, investigating what happened and actually building a defence for me.
A few days ago, I had a telephone conversation with Felicity Joslin that completely destroyed my confidence in my representation. During that conversation, I was told that she had not properly looked into the case or the footage. Despite this, I was still being advised to consider pleading guilty, with the fact that I have no previous record being mentioned as part of that advice.
I found this unbelievable. How am I supposed to make an informed decision about pleading guilty to a criminal offence when I don't feel that my own solicitor has first properly investigated the evidence and prepared my defence?
There is footage and other evidence relating to my case that I believe is extremely important. I have maintained my innocence. I never expected anyone to guarantee that I would win my case — I expected my solicitor to properly examine the evidence, listen to my account and prepare the strongest defence available before advising me whether I should admit guilt.
There was another interaction that particularly stuck with me. After coming out of court, Felicity Joslin told me that I was "lucky" I was getting an hour for free because it was £300 out of their pocket. I was also told that this was a big case and that she was extremely busy for weeks.
As someone facing serious criminal proceedings, being told how busy my solicitor was and how much an hour of her time was costing the firm did not reassure me that my case was receiving the attention it required.
I became extremely frustrated with the situation, and I accept that my frustration came across in my communications. I was angry about how my case was being handled. However, that frustration did not come from nowhere.
Today, I received a letter informing me that the firm is closing my file and will no longer act for me, citing my behaviour and communications towards them. I have also been informed that they intend to write to the court confirming that they will no longer represent me.
I accept that I became angry and frustrated. What I cannot accept is reaching this position after approximately seven months believing that my defence was being prepared, only to be told that important aspects of the case and footage had not been properly looked into while at the same time being advised to consider pleading guilty.
I am now left having to find alternative representation while criminal proceedings are ongoing.
Seven months is a long time when your future is potentially at stake. I expected that time to be spent properly investigating the evidence and preparing my defence.
This review reflects my personal experience, my recollection of what was said to me and my opinion of the service I received. If I could go back seven months knowing what I know now, I would have chosen different representation from the beginning.

View this review on GoogleI cannot speak highly enough of Chloe jay of whom was my legal representation during what was the most serious and stressful period of my life. From the very beginning, Chloe demonstrated exceptional professionalism, intelligence, and dedication to my case.
Chloe had an outstanding understanding of the law and an ability to explain complex issues clearly and honestly, which gave me confidence at every stage of the proceedings. In court, Chloe's advocacy was calm, authoritative, and compelling. Chloe was meticulous in her preparation, strategic in her approach, and fearless when it mattered most. What truly impressed me about Chloe was her commitment to justice and to me as a client.
Chloe treated my case with the seriousness it deserved, listened carefully, and fought relentlessly on my behalf. I always felt supported, respected, and in safe hands. Chloe worked in my case beyond my expectations and into the early hours of the morning sometimes to ensure that I as her Client had the greatest chance success each day of trial.
I am deeply grateful to Chloe and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone facing a serious legal matter. If you need a barrister who is highly skilled, principled, and unwavering in their commitment to their client, I cannot recommend them strongly enough.
Thank you Chloe and to all at Shentons who assisted in my case.
View this review on GoogleI highly recommend Hannah Adams and the team at Shentons. They were all incredibly kind, patient and really listened to the details of our particular situation. We were seen quickly, which was very important for us due to EHCP Tribunal deadlines. The expertise and depth of information we recieved in meetings and reports was invaluable. It also allowed me to proceed with clarity and confidence, where I had previously felt lost in the vast amount of very subject specific paperwork which had been sent to us. We followed Hannah's advice when looking for other professionals to assess our child and gain the relevant reports. We also followed up on a possible area of need she identified, resulting in a new diagnosis and subsequent support from the NHS. I am incredibly happy to say my child is enjoying his second week at our chosen school, something the LA finally agreed to after nearly a year of fighting but 5+ months before our court date. Our child is now in a setting which will support him for the next 7.5 years.
View this review on GoogleShentons helped me through a really difficult time in my life when I was locked in a legal battle with my old partner about our joint house. I am so grateful for Shentons' excellent counsel, efficiency and human touch. I did get a great outcome in the end which has meant I can be free and financially secure again.
