Every few years, I take part in the Will Aid campaign each November, using it as an opportunity to review and update my will so that it continues to reflect my wishes. In the past, this process has been efficient but somewhat transactional- my solicitor would make the necessary checks, finalise the document, and I would be on my way.
This year, however, my experience was markedly different. I was introduced to Shanice Marsh at Perfectly Legal in Richmond, and from our very first meeting it was clear that her approach went far beyond the routine. Shanice guided me thoughtfully through the finer details of my estate and future intentions, raising considerations I had never previously been asked to reflect upon.
While this level of depth initially felt overwhelming, it quickly became evident how valuable and necessary it was.
Her insight and care prompted me to think more holistically about my future, not only in terms of my will but also my wider financial planning. As a result, I sought the advice of a financial adviser to ensure everything - from my will to my power of attorney- was structured as effectively as possible. This level of reflection and forward planning had never been encouraged in my previous experiences.
I am not certain whether it was the nature of a more personal, woman-to-woman conversation or simply Shanice’s exceptional professionalism, but the experience was both empowering and reassuring.
Throughout the process, she and her team demonstrated remarkable patience, clarity, and responsiveness, always taking the time to answer my questions and guide me with care.
I am truly grateful for the experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Shanice and her team to anyone- particularly women- who are looking to create or update their will with confidence and a deeper sense of understanding.
