We had a very positive experience with James E Barnes Solicitors, especially working with Jim Barnes and his team. The service throughout our lease extension was professional, efficient, and well-organised. Communication was clear at every stage, and we always felt supported and well advised. We are very grateful for their help and would highly recommend their services.
View this review on GoogleI was recently the buyer in a property transaction in which the seller used the services of this conveyancing firm.
Completion was delayed by a day as Mr Barnes had not obtained an undertaking to remove a charge from the superior leasehold title, despite there being nearly two months between exchange and completion and repeated chasers from my conveyancer.
Throughout the transaction, Mr Barnes was dismissive of my solicitor’s enquiries, with some of his emails being downright rude. Matters had to continuously be escalated through the estate agent directly to the seller to achieve any progress. I was advised by my solicitor to abandon the transaction as it was so difficult to get even the most basic of documents back from Mr Barnes. The transaction happened despite Mr Barnes, certainly not thanks to him.

Emma in particular has been amazing, really responsive and proactive, and she helped push my last sale through despite loads of delays. Made a stressful process feel much more manageable. I’ve recommended them to everyone I know and will continue to do so!

This year, they worked on both the sale of my London flat and the purchase of a house in Cambridge with my husband. Emma El-Mahrouki handled both and, as ever, did the most amazing job. Both were quite lengthy processes, but Emma was a continual font of knowledge and support. In fact, we're not sure where we'd be if she hadn't worked so tirelessly throughout, and with the utmost professionalism, attention to detail and, thankfully, humour just when it was needed. As a result, my husband and I thoroughly recommend James E Barnes Solicitors and their conveyancing expertise.
