Tried to get these to act on my behalf for a personal injury claim and they fobbed me off. I did everything they asked but didn’t get any help. Just “we are not acting as your solicitor” when I’ve tried to get them to act as my solicitor from the start. They even told me to go and speak to other firms! I had a traumatic accident and I am incredibly stressed, this has not helped me in the slightest and has made it worse if anything. Would not recommend.
View this review on GooglePoor communication, lied to and no support when court hearings were booked. Was informed the CPS had not had responses to communication either! Unprofessional and being told by email the case was concluded and would not attend a court date as legal aid had run out and to appoint another legal firm was very distressing.
View this review on GoogleWe trusted this firm because they handled the conveyancing when my partner’s mother passed away, so returning to them felt like the right thing to do. Looking back now, it was a decision we deeply regret.
From the start, the experience was incredibly frustrating. We contacted the solicitor, and Steve told us to email the details, which we did right away. Then… silence. After a week with no reply, we called again and were reassured they would get back to us soon. They didn’t. Two more weeks went by. We chased again, hoping for even the slightest update, and were once again told they’d be in touch. We tried to be patient, thinking maybe they just needed more time. But after nearly 5 weeks of waiting, we called yet again, only to be told Steve wasn’t in the office and to try the following Monday. We did, and still nothing. Then, out of nowhere, on Tuesday, we received a brief email saying they couldn’t help us and that we should look for another solicitor on the Law Society website. After 5–6 weeks of waiting, hoping, and being repeatedly dismissed, that was it.
They wasted our time, added stress and showed an alarming lack of care. The communication was awful, and the whole experience felt completely unprofessional and, honestly, disrespectful.

They were organised, efficient and very responsive with communication. They also gave me the most competitive quote out of other solicitors across Sheffield. I would not hesitate to use them again. For family law I would recommend Poole Alcock. They are much friendly and more helpful.
Its a shame because Howells used to be so good but both of the last two things I have gone to them for, have resulted in me feeling very dissatisfied. They wont get a third chance!
