I was very happy with the service I received from Hethertons for my recent house purchase. Natalie and Karl in the conveyancing team were brilliant, responding to my questions quickly, explaining things clearly, and being super efficient in resolving any issues. As a first-time buyer this was hugely appreciated. I would definitely recommend Hethertons to anyone and would use them again.
View this review on GoogleNatalie Hall at Hethertons Solicitors was outstanding throughout our house buying process. Everything moved forward incredibly quickly, and we were consistently impressed by how efficiently everything was handled.
The communication was excellent from start to finish — we were always kept fully informed and updated at every stage, which made the entire experience feel smooth and far less stressful.
The professionalism, responsiveness, and dedication really stood out, and we wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend Hethertons Solicitors to anyone looking for reliable, efficient, and supportive legal services during a property purchase.
View this review on GoogleNatalie Hall has supported us through all of our house moves, including the recent sale of our home and purchase of another, and I genuinely couldn’t recommend her more highly.
It’s not always easy to find a solicitor who is proactive, thorough and truly on your side throughout the process. Buying and selling is stressful enough, and in our recent move we experienced significant delays from other parties, particularly other surveyors who were very slow to respond to queries. Natalie, however, was completely on it from start to finish, chasing promptly when needed, asking the right questions, and keeping everything moving as much as possible.
We always feel reassured knowing she’s dealing with things. She’s knowledgeable, confident and calm, and we trust her completely, which is why we wouldn’t go anywhere else.
The wider team at Hethertons have also always been friendly and helpful whenever we’ve popped into the office. And the Hethertons pen and bag were a nice little bonus too!
View this review on GoogleWe were really disappointed with the service we received in regards to conveyancing with Hethertons. They were fine with our purchase (mostly) - if a little slow - but it is with our sale where they fell way, way short of the mark.
Not only were they slow to respond to communications, but they did a truly terrible job representing us - agreeing to delays without consulting us, agreeing to indemnity policies without consulting us - the list goes on.
There was even a time during the transaction they failed to notice that our onward purchase had been incorrectly listed at the Land Registry, and I had to notify them of this.
We believe the issue stemmed from the legal secretary on our file - who I won't name as I do not believe in calling people out - he promised so much, call backs, updates, chasing - and failed to communicate at any stage. We simply couldn't trust him to do his job. Even our Estate Agents commented on his competency during our transaction.
Hethertons also failed to recognise payments and allocate them to our invoice on several occasions - it was only when going through them we realised payments totalling in excess of £1000 were missing, despite being correctly paid as per the invoice, with the correct reference.
We're fully aware that our buyer and the chain behind us were poor, but Hethertons simply fell massively short of the duty of care they owed us as a client. I say this as a man who has a full legal education also. It was far below what would've been expected of me during my undergraduate law degree, let alone the "real world".
In the end, I quite literally had to call my solicitor directly, refuse to discuss it with the case handler, and very directly give the solicitor instructions about how I wanted them to handle the situation. Even then, they had too much to say - I had to remind them - I am the client - these are the direct instructions I am giving you - and you are to carry these out. They were then carried out, and the sale and purchase went through swiftly after. They acted then surprised that these basic instructions seemed to conclude the transaction.
I'm very saddened I had to take a "toys out of the pram", overly firm approach to get what Hethertons should have automatically provided. I don't enjoy having to jump up and down to get what we're paying for. Feeling like the bad guy isn't much fun.
What was most staggering was the sheer blanket agreement to delays in the chain, without consulting us as their client, despite the fact this was against our wishes, which we had directly communicated in writing!
We'd used Hethertons for a previous purchase prior to this transaction and we're currently in the midst of assembling a portfolio of properties which we intended to use Hethertons for the purchases of.
After this experience however, I would rather walk through the arctic circle in shorts with nothing but a torch which had no batteries in, than ever engage their services again.
I suspect Hethertons know how short they fell as there was never any "how did we do" follow up post transaction conclusion. Not only were they weak, and quite expensive (very if you count how we did most of it for them in the end), but they were also unorganised and made the whole process stressful throughout. We never received any acknowledgement nor apology for their conduct, other than a short phone call where they said "yeah, it has been a while hasn't it?" - oh, thats helpful.
View this review on GoogleI have recently used Hethertons for a house sale and purchase. I genuinely couldn't be happier with the service I received from Nicola Kersey. She was brilliant, kept me up to date, communicated brilliantly and was absolutely on the ball 100%. If I move again I will request Nicola
