Johnny Askins represents my landlord who intentionally rented me a house that was so badly kept it required two improvement notices to bring up to a legal level of habitability. Mr Askins represented my landlord at a rent tribunal where they were attempting to justify the fixes done to the property as improvements warranting, I believe a 15% increase. During the hearing the chair dismissed Mr Askins comparables as not relevant which must have been rather embarrassing for someone charging 250 and hour.
Fortunately, as a disabled barman who was signed off work 8 years ago, I was able to convince the committee of the "intellectual dishonest" behaviour on display and they agreed to a 3% rise. 240 quid to be precise over the year. It did occur to me at the time it was a bit funny paying someone 250 an hour to retrieve 240 a year.
Of course Mr Askins does try very hard he also represented my landlords agent at a hearing with his redress scheme where it was claimed that the agent wasn't even connected to the property what was it to do with him? Well besides that awkward signature on the tenancy and the name on the bank details. The PRS found in my favour the first time. The second time my agent chose to represent himself.
Now to boot my incompetent agent gave me a section 21, gave me a reference for moving, I instructed him I was moving, and Mr Askins just sent me a bill for several thousand pounds for the upcoming hearing that won't happen because I won't live here any more.
Johnny tries hard bless him, but let's be honest, if you're getting spanked at your day job by a double uni drop out on disability sickness and a medical prescription you should probably take up fishing or something.
See you at the rent repayment tribunal xxx
